EDIT: It works now, after I set "position: relative" on #container. My dialog is draggable, and ideally I'd prefer if it remained in it's dragged position on the page when resizing the window.
Was guessing you meant the grey - hm? I happen to have a few ui-dialog's open and just did a "Inspect Element" on one. It's also not .resizable() that does this, but rather .dialog(). Please inspect that pall in your browser. I cannot know whether this is at all practical for you. Will the jQuery Position plugin help at all? It seems to me that absolute positioning would make more sense in any case.. Is there any reason in particular for the use of relative positioning for dialogs?
