As a comparison, with my full cover EK block the VRM and VRAM never exceeds 50°C, everything remains extremely cool, there's also no need to cool the capacitors which EK doesn't do, as they don't exceed 75°C when the mosfet/chokes are cooled to 50°C max, capacitors are completely blocked airflow and no thermal pads or contact with the block.

Use akasa thermal tape....that stuff is the best for adhesion.
Also, as long as you casually game there's zero reason to cool VRM or VRAM. I have the Galax rtx 2080 and after installation I noticed that the kraken G12 sticks out a little bit from the entire frame of the card making the power cord attachment a bit difficult. Don't you just love the EK waterblocks? That's kinda nuts, I thought 2080 Ti's max out around 350-400W without overvolting. The card is running at the power limit whenever under high load though, so you could well be right. Was planning to do a full post, but havent found the time yet. Sounds bad man. EVGA's RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra is one of the most expensive RTX 20-series options, and for that, it deserves a separate deep-dive on component choice for the VRM. Noise levels have improved, and GPU clocks are a little higher, but where I could previously overclock the RAM by 800MHz, +550MHz is now the best I can do.
I put some copper heat sinks from amazon on my board.
Been considering cooling the Zotac RTX 2080 Ti I got last week with a Kraken G12 bracket and the X42 (want to stick this on the back of my case). I'll probably go for some of these, attached with some Akasa thermal tape. I put no vrm or vram heatsinks on my 2080 ti with the g12.

As it doesnt support OC and I'd rather undervolt it to reduce the noise, I wasn't in a hurry to cool it. For me, i have a xc ultra from evga and it includes a face and backplate. Doesn't kraken have a 120 fan blowing on the vrm?
