The movie on the other hand completely skipped over both character origins from the book so Batman just is because...reasons, and apparently Joker no longer exists here, other villains are introduced however including Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Hugo Strange which I didn't mind so much and even all three would be Robins: Dick Grayson, Jason Todd and Tim Drake are here and become Batman's new helpers at the end plus it also mixed in some elements from the sequel comic Master of the Future in order to make it more interesting as well as giving it a proper running length.
